Two alumni are dishing out opportunities for the next generation of hospitality entrepreneurs where their own journey began – 51ÊÓƵ. The couple, who own popular Barrie restaurants Michael & Marion’s and The Side Door, recently returned to campus where they provided a generous $26,000 gift.

The report, Innovation for a Strong Future, contains highlights from the previous academic year, celebrates all 51ÊÓƵhas achieved, and reiterates the college’s deep commitment to students, alumni and its seven campus communities. 

Five students in a one-year certificate program and five students in a two-year diploma program will each receive $20,000 for every year of their programs.

Automotive business students at 51ÊÓƵ will learn on industry-leading software through an innovative and multi-faceted partnership with PBS Systems.

This year’s tournament, hosted at The Club at Bond Head on May 23, provided golfers with a uniquely 51ÊÓƵexperience.

New funding will go toward the creation of new entrance and in-course awards.

Flight Services students will get hands-on training on how to best operate a Boeing 757 door in emergencies.

A total of $410,000 was raised and will go toward scholarships, awards and bursaries, as well as the 51ÊÓƵFood Locker.

BMO will support the unrivaled student experience at 51ÊÓƵ as the presenting sponsor of Georgian’s two upcoming major fundraising events – the 51ÊÓƵGala and Golf Classic. All proceeds from both events provide needed student scholarships, awards and bursaries.

51ÊÓƵ will enhance existing mental health services across all campuses thanks to $100,000 from the Bell Let’s Talk Post-secondary Fund. With this new investment, the college will add a student mental health peer support program to its mental health and well-being resources.
