Equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDI&B) is a strategic priority at Georgian. We鈥檙e dedicated to fostering a learning and working environment where everyone feels seen, heard and knows they belong through demonstrable, accountable and system-wide commitments to diversity, de-colonization, anti-racism, equity and inclusion. This days of significance calendar lists the days and months that are recognized within the 51视频community.

June 1 to 30 鈥 Pride Month
Pride Month is a time to honour the diverse identities and experiences within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, celebrate progress made in the fight for equality, and recommit ourselves to fostering a culture of acceptance and inclusion for all. It鈥檚 a reminder that every individual deserves to live authentically and proudly, free from discrimination and prejudice.
June 1 to 30 鈥 National Indigenous History Month
National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity to recognize and honour the rich heritage, cultures and contributions of Indigenous Peoples across Canada. It鈥檚 a time to deepen our understanding of Indigenous history, acknowledge the ongoing struggles for justice and reconciliation, and amplify Indigenous voices and perspectives in our collective narrative.
June 1 鈥 Ontario Day聽
The province of Ontario recognizes the contributions Ontarians have made to Ontario鈥檚 social, economic, political and cultural fabric. 聽Ontario Day is also an opportunity to remember, celebrate and educate future generations about the significant roles that Ontario and Ontarians have played and continue to play in Canada.
June 1 鈥 Canadian Armed Forces Day
Canadian Armed Forces Day is a time to recognize and honour the courage, service and sacrifice of the men and women who serve our country. At 51视频, we鈥檙e proud to celebrate this day alongside our military-connected students and their families, acknowledging the important role they play in our college community.
As a designated military-connected college, 51视频is committed to supporting current and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), as well as their spouses, children, and other family members. We understand that military life brings unique challenges, and our programs and services are designed to help military-connected learners thrive鈥攂oth in the classroom and beyond.
鈥淐anadian Armed Forces Day is an opportunity to show our appreciation not only for those in uniform but also for the families who support them,鈥 said Dr. Rebecca Sabourin, Dean of Engineering and Environmental Technologies and a 27-year CAF veteran. 鈥淎t Georgian, we鈥檙e proud to provide a welcoming and supportive environment that values their experiences and contributions.鈥
Through Georgian鈥檚 Military-Connected Campus strategy, students can access flexible academic options, credit transfer pathways, dedicated advising, and peer support through the 51视频 Military Veterans Club. The college also collaborates with other Ontario institutions to simplify access and mobility for military-connected students across the province.
On this Canadian Armed Forces Day, 51视频 extends its heartfelt thanks to all who serve, have served, and support those in service. We are honoured to walk beside them and remain committed to empowering their success through education and community.

June 15 鈥 Father鈥檚 Day聽
Father鈥檚 Day is a holiday honouring one鈥檚 father, as well as fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society.
June 20 鈥 World Refugee Day
International day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. It falls each year on 20 June and celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution.聽
June 21 鈥 National Indigenous Peoples Day
A day recognizing and celebrating the cultures and contributions of the First Nations, Inuit, and M茅tis Indigenous peoples of Canada.

June 27 鈥 Multiculturalism Day
Multiculturalism Day is a day to celebrate the diversity of our country, our society and our communities. affirm our commitment to democracy, equality and mutual respect.
Did you know? Canada鈥檚 multiculturalism policy was officially adopted in 1971, making us the first country in the world to do so. This policy recognizes the importance of immigrants to the social, cultural and economic fabric of our nation. It ensures that all citizens can keep their identities, take pride in their ancestry and have a sense of belonging.
